Dreams Come True

Roger is a huge Toronto Maple Leafs fan and has always wanted to see a live game. His dream was to have tickets to a game for himself, his wife, their daughter and son-in-law, and their grandson. Not only did Roger and his family get to cheer on the Leafs with thousands of other fans in the Scotiabank Arena, but he also met Leafs legend Darryl Sittler!

After the dream, Roger shared the following with us: “We honestly can’t put into words how thankful and grateful we are to Oneday Dreams for making it possible to have this lifelong dream come true. Without your organization, this would not have been possible. Thank you!”

Eve’s dream was to travel to her birthplace, Saint John, New Brunswick, with her husband, Dale, and daughter, Aurora, to say goodbye to her father and paternal family. Eve also planned to bring her mother’s ashes back home to scatter them. This was a special part of Eve’s dream; her mother died in May 2024, a few weeks after Eve learned about her own cancer recurrence.

Oneday Dreams arranged for Eve’s hotel stay and car rental, and provided her with spending money for her trip. Special thanks to Give a Mile for paying covering the cost of flights for Eve and Dale.

George’s dream was to enjoy a weekend getaway at a cottage in Muskoka with his wife Cathy and two daughters, Emily and Ashley – the people he loved the most. In his application he wrote: “My family is my everything, and I just want to be able to be together to enjoy another’s company, one last time.”

Oneday Dreams rented River’s Edge Muskoka, a remote, quiet, and serene home away from home. It was the perfect setting for George and his family to immerse themselves in nature, cherish each other’s presence, and create lasting memories together.

After the dream Cathy shared the following words with us: “This dream meant more to us than words can express. George passed away four days after our return from the cottage. We spent our days in a calm and peaceful setting and the time together will forever be cherished. Our daughters had t-shirts made for the vacation and we are wearing them in the enclosed picture. We will never be able to thank your organization enough for the treasured time away in such a beautiful setting.”

Bonnie grew up in Newfoundland, where the ocean was her constant companion. For most of her life, the rhythmic sound of the waves and the salty sea breeze brought her comfort, providing a place of peace and reflection. Whenever she needed to clear her mind, she found solace by the shore. Bonnie’s dream was to return to her beloved Lawrencetown Beach, not just for the ocean but to share this cherished place with her “girls” – the dedicated caregivers who have played a huge role in her life.

With the support of Oneday Dreams, Bonnie’s dream turned into a reality. We arranged transportation, ensuring Bonnie and her friends had everything they needed for a special day, complete with food and snacks to make the trip memorable. 

After the experience, Bonnie reflected: “It gave me the opportunity to do something I loved all my life, but probably took for granted. The simplest things in life and often the ones we miss the most. Growing up by the sea, I took the time I spent there for granted, not knowing how much I would miss one day. Thank you for making my dream come true.”

A heartfelt thank you also goes to “The Wheelchair Guy” for his generosity in making sure Bonnie could fully enjoy her time on the beach!

Jonathon’s dream was to have a second honeymoon getaway with his wife, Sharon, at the Couples Resort in Muskoka. This location held deep sentimental value for Jonathon, as he and Sharon had celebrated several anniversaries there in the past. His dream was to return and stay in a private chateau on the resort, surrounded by nature and peaceful surroundings, spending quality time together away from medical appointments, hospital procedures, and daily responsibilities like cooking and cleaning. Most importantly, Jonathon wanted to show Sharon how much he appreciates all she has done for him and how deeply he loves her.

Oneday Dreams booked a beautiful chateau room for the couple, complete with daily five course breakfast and dinners. We also assisted with travel and spending money.

Following the dream, Jonathon shared with us that one of his (many) favourite moments was driving a small motor boat around the lake in Algonquin Park. He shared, “I felt so alive and happy. I also very much enjoyed the double-sided wood burning fireplace in the chateau watching the flames and listening to the crackle of the fire with my wife. I felt incredibly happy and at peace.”

Jon expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to spend uninterrupted quality time with his wife: “We created loving memories that we can look back on. We are both filled with much gratitude and happiness for this joyous, and romantic experience.”

Paige’s dream came true when she met her all-time favourite performer, Avril Lavigne, during her Calgary concert stop! Avril took the time to chat with Paige, take photos with her and her family, and sign some special keepsakes.

A huge thank you to Avril and her incredible team for making this unforgettable moment possible!

Alana’s dream was to celebrate her love story with Mitch—a hybrid vow renewal and celebration of life marking their 5th wedding anniversary. Alana walked down the aisle again to her soulmate, the person who has been her rock and caregiver over the past four years, surrounded by their closest family and friends.

“Having this dream fulfilled was such a gift,” Alana shared. “This celebration was my chance to thank the amazing people in our lives for all of their encouragement and love and create memories that they can look back on when I’m no longer here. Saturday truly was a dream come true…it was a group coming together and celebrating life for all of its ups and downs and everything in between. Love conquers all, and Saturday was a testament to that.”

We were honored to play a small role in making this celebration as special as possible, supporting Alana’s dream with beautiful flowers, custom bracelets for guests, a live sketch artist to capture the moment, and a contribution toward catering.

This day was a celebration of love, life, and resilience—one that will be remembered by all who were there. Thank you, Alana, for sharing your story and reminding us all to cherish every moment.

Mike is very passionate about Canadian football. He played football in high school as a guard and center. Mike and his wife dreamed of attending a CFL game to see his favourite team, the Roughriders, on home turf in Saskatchewan.

Oneday Dreams provided the flights and hotel for Mike & his wife to attend the sold out game on labour day weekend. Special thanks to the @sskroughriders for donating free tickets and making the day extra special by presenting Mike with a signed a jersey that had his last name on it. Mike also got to stand on the sidelines as the team entered!

Mark loves being in Mountains. He’s always marveled at how he could be in one spot and take vistas offering calm waters, majestic peaks, glorious blue sky. This was a source of wonder and solitude..

Mark, his wife Grace, and their daughter Kayla  2 days at the Chateau Lake Louise Hotel, in Alberta. Being in the mountain setting with his family, brought fond memories of previous trips they’ve shared and given them the chance to meaningfully connect and take in the moments together as they had so many times prior to Mark’s diagnosis.

David and his sister Theresa had a special bond, speaking with each other every day despite the distance between them. His dream was to reunite with her in person and share time together in Hamilton. Thanks to another incredible collaboration with Give A Mile, this dream became a reality! 

Not only did Theresa make the journey to Hamilton from Newfoundland, but David’s son and stepdaughter also travelled from Sault Ste. Marie to meet their aunt for the first time, turning this visit into an unforgettable family reunion.

Reflecting on the experience, Theresa shared: “This dream meant so much to David…to have his family and chosen family together to celebrate the love they all share for him. In his words, three wonderful dreams were fulfilled in one. You truly made David’s dream come true. Thank you so very much.”
