FAQ
- Anyone can complete the general application, but the dream applicant or their power of attorney must sign to ensure this is the person’s request.
- Anyone can write the dream letter, as long as it reflects the applicant’s dream.
- The applicant must be able to communicate their dream; an unconscious or unresponsive person does not qualify. Exceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis, such as a request to help family travel to be with their loved one.
- If the applicant had a wish through Make-A-Wish Foundation or any other wish/dream granting organization, please provide us with the date and type of wish in order to determine eligibility.
- If the applicant’s medical team will not provide the information required in the Medical Information form or provide a life expectancy, please complete the application. As long as the diagnosis is provided, we will work with the applicant and medical team to determine eligibility.
- If the applicant’s life expectancy does not meet the requirement, they may apply again later. Applications will be kept on record for one year and we only require the medical information of the application be resubmitted.
- If the applicant does not want to know their life expectancy, the medical professional can mail or submit the medical information separately.

A member of our Dream Weaver team will contact the applicant or designate and inform them that the dream request cannot be fulfilled. Dream Weavers will often suggest changes or adjustments to a dream request if it cannot be fulfilled.
We do not assist with medical or any other physical needs, such as ambulance transportation, oxygen, medical equipment, nurse and aids, dialysis, etc.
We do not arrange or provide hospice care away from home, dialysis treatments, or oxygen needs. Dream recipients are responsible for any medical emergency during the dream.
We will work to complete the application process as quickly as possible, and typically this process can be completed within one week. This is followed by the verification process, which can take a few days to several weeks depending on the response time of the Medical Advisory Committee. Once the dream request is approved, we ask that recipients please allow two weeks to arrange air travel and other accommodations. We cannot rush dream requests for reasons other than medical necessity.
Urgent Dream requests are processed the business day they are received and verified as soon as possible.
There is no set income qualification, but our mission is to help those who cannot fulfill their dream on their own. Some dream requests do not require financial support (e.g., meeting a celebrity).
We look at each application individually and take into consideration taxable income, how many people live in the household, geographic location, and financial hardship. If the dream applicant does not file taxes, we ask that they provide a copy of their Notice of Assessment for the most recent tax year or other proof of annual income (e.g., pay stub, social assistance or disability statement, or a bank statement from the past 30 days).
Celebrity/athlete dreams are difficult to coordinate, and may take many months to make arrangements. Some requirements for celebrity dreams may include:
- Dream recipient and participants must be able to travel to meet the celebrity and must meet our travel requirements.
- Before beginning a celebrity dream request, a Dream Weaver will speak with the dream recipient to learn why meeting the celebrity is important.
- Economy class air, train, or bus transportation, or the cost of gas, based on location and at the discretion of Oneday Dreams.
- Lodging (one hotel room/family room only).
- Amusement park admission or other admission costs.
- Financial assistance to help with cost of meals/rental car if possible.
An Urgent Dream is for an applicant whose life expectancy is three (3) months or less. Urgent Dreams are considered on a case-by-case basis and must be approved by our Medical Advisory Committee.
- Applicants are responsible for any medical emergencies that could arise during the dream.
- Urgent Dreams are processed the business day we receive them and verified as soon as possible.
- If an Urgent Dream is for a bedside reunion or similar request, we strive to fulfill as quickly as possible.
- If Urgent Dreams requires travel by the applicant, we require careful approval from a health care professional and will consider it on a case-by-case basis.
Number of participants (family/friends) will be reviewed by Oneday Dreams in accordance with the terms of agreement, policies, and restrictions.
